THE EXPLOITATION OF FREEDOM AS THE FOUNDATION OF NEOLIBERALISM: A REFLECTION THROUGH THE POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY OF BYUNG-CHUL HAN

The aim of this paper is to establish an analysis of Byung-Chul Han's political philosophy in order to show how neoliberal power is based on the exploitation of individual freedom and, therefore, puts people in a new condition of subjection to power, to which Han refers with the expression of "crisis of freedom", in which they are forced to live with the only goal of improving their performances and exploiting themselves up to exhaustion. Continuing the critical comparison with Han's work, the reflection concludes by examining the philosopher's proposal on how to exit this crisis of freedom, highlighting the flaws and the inconsistencies that could undermine its actual effectiveness.
