The importance of the non-stoichiometry of lead dioxide and the location of hydrogen in the positive active mass of the lead-acid battery

摘要
Several neutron diffraction studies have been directed at the materials in the positive active mass of the lead-acid battery but the results of those studies have been published in a variety of different journals and their significance may not have been fully appreciated. In this brief paper the results of those studies are coordinated and light is shed on significant aspects of both the crystalline lead dioxide and a concomitant amorphous phase in the positive active mass.
