摘要
Constructability has always been the focus of many construction firms, to bring the construction knowledge and experience into the early project phases of planning and design. However, there have always been different ideas on how to perform it in the best way and to avoid lack of knowledge of project components and constructability concept, poor coordination among project team members, and wrong estimation of time and cost result in duplications and project wastes. Improper use of multidimensional modelings in the construction process, negatively affects the success of projects. The use of new technologies has enhanced the constructability implementation. This research provides a practical framework to apply the benefits of Building Information Modeling (BIM) to fulfill the prerequisites for constructability implementation. This framework reduces project wastes and prevents errors, delays, duplications, and thus reduces project time and cost. Using BIM, all project practitioners are present from the beginning of the project, and the needs of each member and project goals are identified. A powerful database is developed to access project data at any time, which can be effective in making critical decisions. In this way, it can facilitate constructability processes. According to the existing literature reviews and the results obtained from the interviews, this study has developed a practical framework that provides some solutions to effectively meet constructability prerequisites. This is important because many of the problems of construction infrastructure projects are due to insufficient communication, lack of integration, lack of familiarity with new technologies, duplications, and lack of attention to constructability of projects.
