The Show Trials of Francoism: Representations and Distortions of Legal Procedure in Summary Trials

This article examines the post-war summary trials during the Franco dictatorship from a legal perspective. It begins by approaching the concept of Show Trials -used to define pseudo -judicial processes employed by certain dictatorial regimes, primarily in the Soviet sphere- to question whether Francos summary trials can be categorized similarly. The study aims to contrast the model of justice the Franco regime sought to project with the representation of these trials designed to instill their pedagogical effect on society.
