摘要
In the era of upcoming concerns of environmental issues, the biolubricants developed from renewable sources gather much significance. In the present work, a biodegradable nano-lubricant formulated from sesame oil is evaluated for the performance in a four-stroke SI engine and compared with the commercially available SAE20W40 lubricant and neat sesame oil. The performance test is studied on basis of brake thermal efficiencies and specific fuel consumption. A rotating disc electrode atomic emission spectrometer was used to study the wear debris analysis of the used oil samples. It is observed that the formulated biolubricant and SAE20W40 outperform neat sesame oil in terms of oxidation stability, wear resistance, and brake thermal efficiency at higher loads. Therefore, the sesame oil-based formulated oil can serve as a biodegradable alternative to existing mineral oil-based lubricants.
