Veterinary toxicology laboratories use clinical toxicology and analytical chemistry to investigate and diagnose poisoning cases in animals. When ruminant animals are exposed to toxicants, it can lead to significant losses in the herd/flock and can pose a health hazard risk to remaining, unaffected animals on the premises. Therefore, knowing how to effectively use veterinary toxicology/analytical chemistry laboratories and how to approach each case during the investigatory and diagnostic process will help maximize the likelihood of diagnosis.
