LOCATION OF THE ROYAL CABINETRY WORKSHOPS: INDICATIONS, CONJECTURES AND HYPOTHESES

This article attempts to clear up doubts about the location of the Royal Cabinetmaking Workshops in the 18th century, the best and the most productive in the Spanish crown. The location of these workshops, of which any physical vestige has disappeared and on which the written references are at least unstable, reveals itself to be a complicated task, but not for that reason impossible to decipher. The evidence of its existence forces its investigation to indicate, when possible, and suggest, in what remains, where the artists whose works we now marvel at worked, so that their effort is not consumed in the laziness of time. This study has led to a better understanding of the latest addition to the Royal Palace of Madrid known as El Aumento.
