The Bolognese Academies in the Documents of the Local State Archives

This study scrutinizes primary historical sources on academies in Bologna, in particular records preserved at the local State Archives. These documents are primarily studied because of the historical information they offer; however, attention is also paid to their specific features, starting with how they were produced. Some of them are memoirs and sensitive data meant to be kept within the authors' families, occasionally serving as legal evidence in notarial acts; others, instead, where meant to stay in the public archives, as they reflect the interaction (either peaceful or problematic) with the local authorities.
