摘要
Chitosan is a natural polysaccharide obtained from the alkaline deacetylation of chitin. Owing to its excellent properties, chitosan and its derivatives are extensively used in various industrial sectors. Recent developments in the application of chitosan and its derivatives as adsorbents or photocatalytic materials for the environmental remediation of toxic dyes are discussed in this review. These include various modified chitosan-based composites such as magnetic chitosan composites, clay chitosan composites, chitosan nanocomposites as photocatalysts, chitosan composites with graphene oxide and bio-chitosan nanocomposites for the removal of dyes from aqueous solutions.
