摘要：
The European Union's terminological database translates profession nouns and positions almost exclusively into masculine in the English-Spanish combination. We analyse IATE's bilingual entries of three nouns (fisherman, lawyer and secretary) of particular interest in terms of gender and frequency in four European corpora. The results show the use of masculine by default, very few neutral strategies and feminine as a reflection of stereotyping, subordination and abnormality.
