摘要
A feasibility of the friction stir welding for low-alloy structural steel processed by tempforming was analyzed. The stir zone was characterized by almost twofold increase in the hardness and the specific microstructure with an average grain size of 800 nm and large fractions of boundary misorientations around 60 degrees and below 5 degrees. The yield strength of the welded joint was 1220 MPa, whereas the yield strength of the base material was 1350 MPa. The fracture of the welded joint occurred in the heat affected zone between the stir zone and the base material.
