EDIT AND PUBLISH BOOKS IN THE PANDEMIC: NOTES FROM THE HOME OFFICE

As a result of the dialogue with publishers and researchers on editorial issues during the 24th Congress of Literary Studies at UFES, this text speculates on possible consequences of social isolation and the health crisis of Covid-19 for the book market in Brazil, especially considering the activity of independent publishers and the performance of women as writers, publishers, and readers. Based on my experience as a teacher in the graduation course in Letters/Editing at CEFET-MG and as a collaborator with publishing houses of various sizes, I present here notes and reflections on the explosion of originals/manuscripts and the obstacles to publishing during a crisis that was also economic. and social. The consequences of the pandemic are yet to be felt and analyzed.
