Three-dimensional microflowers of 8-cyclodextrin (8 -CD) polymer were synthesized by facile electro-polymerization process on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) modified with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) nanocomposite. The novel 8-CD/MWCNTs/rGO nanocomposite was explored for simultaneous determination of gallic (GA) and protocatechuic (PA) acids. Significantly, the engineered nanocomposite with 3D microflowers morphology showed not only a promising electrochemical catalytic activity but also a considerable peak potential separation enabled simultaneous determination of GA and PA. It was found, the peak heights of GA and PA correlated linearly with the concentration in the range of 9.8-110 mu M with detection limits of 3.74 and 8.36 mu M, respectively. The nanocomposite electrode exhibited high sensitivity and long-term stability, which offered simultaneous determination of GA and PA in mango fruit with a robust functionality.
