摘要
High UV-B exposure due to the presence of a thin ozone during the time of pioneering early land plants indicates about the existence of UV-B tolerance pathways and the search for which leads to the discovery of UV Resistance Locus 8(UVR8) and its associated signalling components. The phylogenetic analysis of UVR8 shows the conservation, versatility and evolution of land plants by utilizing UVR8-mediated UV-B resistance pathways in them through time. The study also shows that UVR8 and its known signalling components originated in charophytes and were preserved along with the whole genome duplications, minor modifications and deletions with the varying environment. Therefore, this study draws attention on the importance of UVR8 in plants and its potential application in inducing root development, flowering, and developing more UV-B tolerant nutrient rich plants.
