The article discusses the issues of creating energy-saving thermal installations based on the use of infrared (IR) radiators with directed radiation supply. The known IR radiators are classified and analyzed. The results of studies on the choice of the design of point sources of IR radiation for use in thermal installations providing focused-directed supply of thermal energy to heated materials without additional installation of reflectors are presented. Comparative numerical data of infrared reflector lamps and tubular thermoelectric heaters on the power of the heat flow transmitted to the irradiated material are presented. The choice of the structural material for preparation of working areas of thermal installations, which provides the best conditions for heat exchange, has been made. The power consumption of the lamp radiator is determined at different distances between the radiation surface and the heated material sample. It is shown that use of an automatic voltage-temperature controller provides an error between the set and the actual temperature in the 1.5-2 degrees C range. Examples of structural and technological schemes of thermal installations with directed supply of IR radiation are given.
