摘要
Biodiesel is rapidly becoming a popular alternative to fossil fuels, due to the fact that it is renewable and generates lower emissions of toxic gases. The biodiesel production chain involves many processes, some of which are complex and require better management and optimization. This includes improving the supply chain to achieve a sustainable and cost-effective process. Therefore, efforts are needed to maintain biodiesel in the energy matrix of the country, among these, the contribution of researchers. Residual fat oil emerges as an interesting alternative for the production of biodiesel, due to the fact that it is not part of the food chain, for its low cost, and because its transformation into energy is considered an effective technique for waste management, since its disposal in the sewage system causes environmental problems. The main obstacle currently faced in its use as a source of raw material is the bottleneck existing in its collection. This article presents the panorama of the OGR collection, which serves as support for the production of a more sustainable biodiesel in the use of a residue as a raw material. Emphasizing the need for public awareness about the collection of OGR and its benefits in the production of biodiesel.
