摘要
1. This investigation covered 4,643 infants born in Nanking during 1933.2. Of these, 569 died under one year of age, the infant death rate being 122.6.3. The male infant death rate was higher than the female.4. The infant death rates were lowest for the 3rd-and 4th-born.5. The infant death rates were in inverse proportion to family income.6. The infant death rate was highest among the infants of fathers in domestic and personal service.7. The death rate was lower among infants of mothers from 20 to 40 years of age than among those of mothers in the lower or the higher age groups.8. The death rate was higher among infants of mothers who had been married under 5, or over 20 years than among those of mothers in the intermediate group.9. Infants who died before the age of 3 months formed 36.8 per cent of the total.10. The causes of death were mostly convulsions and exanthemata.
