SERUM HIGH DENSITY LIPOPROTEIN CHOLESTEROL MICROASSAY

This paper describes a microassay methodof serum high density lipoprotein(HDL)choles-terol.To isolate HDL,the modified NaPT-Mg++microtechnic was used requiring only 02 mlserum.The coefficient of variation was<5%and the values obtained correlate well withthose obtained by Maddison et al’s method.Thismethod was suitable for routine use in the clini-cal chemistry laboratory.Serum HDL-cholesterol concentration wasdetermined in 722 healthy Chinese adults,being49.7±10.6 mg/dl in males and 53.0±12.3 mg/dlin females.
