摘要
We investigate the role of multiple large shareholders in the risk-taking behaviour of commercial banks by analysing a sample of Chinese commercial banks for the period 2010-2021. The findings suggest that banks with multiple large shareholders have lower risk-taking than those with a single large shareholder. The monitoring power of other large shareholders is inversely related to bank risk-taking. Furthermore, the moderating impact of bank characteristics on the relationship between multiple large shareholders and bank risk-taking is significant.
