Compact hertz linewidth photonic terahertz oscillator using molecular spectroscopy

摘要
We have developed a compact photonic THz oscillator stabled via molecular rotational spectroscopy of gaseous nitrous oxide utilizing readily available commercial materials. At 301.442 GHz, the oscillator achieves an unparalleled fractional frequency stability of 6 x 10(-12) /root tau corresponding to a few hertz linewidth. The stability remains below 1 x 10(-11) at all measured timescales longer than one second.
