摘要
In this study, we examined the damage evolution of horizontally stratified rocks subjected to uniaxial loading. Utilizing a modified rock-like material, we investigated the coupling interplay between the conductivity response properties and the strength variation patterns during uniaxial compression tests. The findings indicate that the electrical conductivity of the specimens increases with compaction progression. During the initiation and propagation of new fissures, notably, the peak in the electrical conductivity curve occurs prior to that in the stress curve. Explicit damage evolution equations for the conductivity are derived from experimental results, which more accurately capture its response to changes in strength within horizontally stratified rocks. The results from finite element method (FEM) simulations and theoretical calculations align well with experimental observations. Collectively, the results substantiate the efficacy of a conductivity-based damage theory in capturing the damage evolution in horizontally stratified rocks.
