摘要
The uranium (U-238) and radon (Rn-222) concentrations have been assessed in drinking water samples from north-west Punjab, India. LED Fluorimetry technique is used for the measurement of uranium and degassing technique with scintillation based radon monitor (SRM) is used for radon measurements. The U-238 and Rn-222 concentration values in water are found in the range of 1.2 +/- 0.3-59.32 +/- 2.9 mu gl(-1) and 0.75 +/- 0.08-7.25 +/- 0.52 Bql(-1) respectively. The uranium and radon values in present study mostly lies within the safe limit and the calculated annual dose values are also below the prescribed dose limit of 100 mu Svy(-1).
