摘要
A wideband Fabry-Perot cavity antenna (FPCA) is proposed. It is composed of a single-layer partially reflective surface (PRS) and a slot-coupled antenna. The single-layer PRS achieves multiple resonances by loading a metal via between the two square patches of the unit cell, resulting in a wide frequency band of positive reflection phase gradient. The slot-coupled antenna provides wide impedance bandwidth and stable gain. By employing the PRS, the gain of the FPCA is effectively improved in a wide operational band. The proposed design demonstrates a simulated 3 dB gain bandwidth of 31.9% [(5.8 to 8) GHz], the peak gain is 13.18 dBi, and the impedance bandwidth is 34.8% [(5.7 to 8.1) GHz]. A prototype of the proposed FPCA has been fabricated, and the validity of the simulated results has been confirmed by measurement. This work presents a simple and effective way to extend the 3 dB gain bandwidth of FPCA.
