The problem of calculating the external inductance of a current-carrying circuit is considered. It differs from the ″section method″ where a current conductor is replaced by an ″axis″ concentrating the entire current and where conventional concepts of section inductance and mutual inductance between them are introduced. The method of inductance calculation presented in this article relies on the determination of the inductance of a conductor section as a function of the flux permeating the entire area of its contour and excited by the current section. It is shown that external induction of a section of an infinitely long conductor is a function of the length, diameter and frequency of the alternating current.
