NSF Industry-University Center for Glass Research: An overview

The NSF Industry-University Center for Glass Research, located at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, with a site for refractory research at the University of Missouri-Rolla, is a cooperative research consortium conducting precompetitive research for the benefit of its members. This paper will provide an overview of the center, its mission, its membership, and its current research project areas, including fundamental studies, melt-related studies, analytical techniques, and surface-related studies. The center's strategic research agenda, its plans for a satellite research site for glass surfaces and interfaces at the Pennsylvania State University, and the methods it uses for disseminating information will also be discussed.
