A new test procedure each for severe and moderate frost conditions, together with relevant requirements, were incorporated in the revised version of DIN 4226. These stipulations are based on extensive studies carried out by the Research Institute of the Cement Industry and five other approved test institutions on aggregate samples from more than 130 deposits all over the Federal Republic of Germany. Besides reporting on these tests the authors also deal with research work undertaken after the publication of DIN 4226.
