Prospects of Exploration for Nonanticlinal Oil and Gas Pools in the Zone of the Eastern Rim of the North Caucasus Marginal Massif.

A brief description of the specific features of the geological structure of the eastern rim of the North Caucasus marginal massif is presented. The data presented make it possible to assign this territory to the promising ones in the search for nonanticlinal traps of different genetic types. The main objects of exploration may be the subsalt Jurassic and older strata, but the supra-salt Jurassic and Cretaceous limestones, especially in the fault zones, are also promising. It is reasonable to carry out exploration along the profiles crossing the zones where the North Caucasus marginal massif adjoins the Terek-Caspian trough and the Chernolesskaya depression. It is also recommended to carry out seismic exploration in this region in order to single out the most promising sectors for a more detailed subsequent study.
