摘要
Following an exhaustive study of the literature, 10 types of electrolyte composition were selected for study. Deposits from chloride-based electrolytes were superior to those from sulphate media. At no time was chlorine gas seen to be evolved. By selecting the appropriate conditions, virtually any desired Fe-Ni-Cr composition could be deposited. The ratio Fe:Ni was a function of the current density. The chromium content depended strongly on bath temperature. The advantages of higher current efficiencies and improved corrosion resistance found with sulphate-based baths must be seen in the light of the sulphur which is incorporated in the deposits from these baths.
