The existing procedures for the quantitative evaluation of object point displacement vectors using the pattern of the secondary interference fringes are based in principal either on a static evaluation of the fringe order, if the observation point is fixed, or the fringe dynamics, if the observation point changes. The following method is being developed to determine the direction of the displacement vector from a modified dynamic method; to determine subsequently the magnitude, the dynamic principle and - if the orders are known - the static principle can be used. The theory presented here results in a very simple evaluation formula, which is supplemented by significant experimental examples.
