The results of metallographic and strength studies of cast steel L47II and welded joints between this steel and steel 40H are presented. During these studies no essential difference was noted between the strength of a welded joint bonding cast steel L47II to steel 40H and the strength of steel L47II itself. There thus exists the possibility of using welded joints between steel castings and difficult-to-weld steel, provided that an appropriate technology is employed (such as welding in a CO//2 atmosphere).
