Hadron-cascade calculations are reported using a new computer code FLUKA 82 for incident antiproton and proton beams of various energies. The shielding requirements for proton and antiproton beams are compared. At high energies (tens or hundreds of Gev), no essential differences are found between the hadron cascades due to incident protons and those due to antiprotons. At low energies, however, owing to the differences in interaction cross-sections (contributions of annihilation reactions in the antiproton case), the differences become significant.
