Based on experience, the damage that may be experienced by the drawing die and the wire being drawn (from 1 to 2 mm diam) when machines are used in which the wire glides on drawing rings is analyzed. Improvements expected from the use of ″glideless″ machines are discussed. Drawing without intermediate annealing is shown by experimental data to be bad practice.
