Small oscillations are considered with respect to the center of mass of a gravitationally oriented satellite with elastic elements which moves along a circular or slightly elliptical orbit in a central Newtonian field. Relations are derived between the natural frequencies at which nonlinear resonances occur for a nonrigid satellite. The characteristics of nonlinear resonance effects are investigated by means of the solution of the average canonical equations of perturbed motion in elliptical functions for the possible use of similar phenomena for the damping of spatial oscillations.
