An experimental investigation of x-ray Bragg diffraction on an X cut of a langasite crystal modulated by surface acoustic wave (SAW) was performed. SAW excitation gives rise to diffraction satellites, whose intensities and angular positions were determined by the SAW amplitude and wavelength, respectively. A Cyberstar NaL scintillation counter was used to measure the diffracted intensity. Langasite crystals of high quality can now be routinely fabricated.
