PROTEO SYSTEM: AN OVERVIEW.

This paper presents an overview of the digital switching system Proteo. First generation products are initially reviewed by outlining the significant technological improvements introduced in the recent years. The second generation Proteo is then presented by describing its enhanced modular distributed-control structure, oriented towards cost-effectiveness in various network applications and ISDN features. In particular, the system technology, the building blocks and the resulting system products are briefly outlined.
