In Japan, company-wide quality control (CWQC) is a 'holistic' approach to achieving objectives more effectively. It means that quality control efforts start with the design of the product and are complete only with a customer's satisfied use. It refers not only to the product being produced but also to the output of every job in the company. Moreover, everyone is involved with quality. The quality control circles can succeed only under the 'umbrella' of CWQC.
