Evaluation of the efficiency of inhibitors of hydrogen sulfide corrosion of steels

To select effective inhibitors for hydrogen sulfide-containing media in gas-condensate deposits, investigations were carried out on Soviet inhibitors I-1-D-1, I-3-DM, and I-21-D-1 in comparison with imported inhibitor IMP-1, which has been used in the Orenburg gas deposit. The effect of the inhibitors on the processes of corrosion failure of steels were studied at atmospheric pressure and in autoclaves with methane at a higher pressure of the corrosive medium. The efficiency of inhibitor protection against embrittlement was estimated by the bending method. The protective effect against corrosion cracking was also determined. The shielding effect of the inhibitors at atmospheric pressure exceeds 93%, while at the higher pressure the protective effect of I-21-D-1 at 200-1000 mg/lit is 73%, and that of the other inhibitors at concentrations exceeding 500 mg/lit is 90-92%. The protective properties of I-3-DM exceeds the imported IMP-1.
