COKE BATTERY OPERATION AND PROTECTION OF OVEN EQUIPMENT.

In the course of operation, coke oven lining is subjected to the effect of high temperatures, corrosive substances and mechanical loads. After 5-8 years of operation serious lining defects appear in the ovens, which rapidly progress and interfere with normal operation of the coke ovens. Damage occurring in 146 ovens at the Yasinovka Coke Works, USSR is examined, and recommendations for oven protection and maintenance are presented.
