摘要
A parallel electromagnetic beam in free space can only exist when the wavelengths are very short or when the aperture (transverse cross section) of the beam is infinitely wide. Neither of these conditions can be fully realized. For an approximate realization of a parallel beam we need an aperture that considerably exceeds the wavelength. It is shown that it is possible to localize low-frequency waves propagating along a magnetic field in a solid-state plasma.
