This paper is concerned with bonding strength between wirecord and rubber in tires. In the reported experiments, the authors tested the influence of the cord construction regarding the diameter, the number of wires and the number of strands on the adhesion of rubber steel. The possibility of using special cord variations is also comprised within these tests. The test methods are explained, the results of the series of tests are represented in comparative diagrams. For the designing engineer of the rubber compound-product the cord construction - the reinforcing element made of steel - is an independent variable. The cord manufacturer offers new ideas for technical development and economical production.
