Following a brief survey of work on the production of coarse-crystalline ammonium sulfate, a description is given of the isohydric crystallization method, which can produce coarse (1-3 mm) crystals from saturator liquors. The crystallization conditions obtained in the proposed apparatus promote rapid crystal growth at high throughput rates.
