Electroless nickel deposits have a series of advantages properties which can, however, only be made effective use of if the coatings are appropriately employed. The manner in which this is achieved involves a definition of the stresses to which the part to be nickel plated is to be subjected, and comparing them with the possibilities offered by chemical nickel coatings. The properties of the chemical nickel deposits, the method of choice, and a range of applications in various fields are described.
