To the European forest researcher interested in the debate surrounding the next EU framework programme for research and development (2002 to 2006), the publication of the latest document from the Commission of the European Communities outlining the parameters of support (COM(2001) 94 final) makes interesting if not challenging reading. Not surprisingly the words forest and forest products do not appear at all.
