摘要：
The various theories proposed regarding mechanism of shrinkage have been discussed. The shrinkage types are also reviewed and the effect of various influencing factors like soil-type, cement content, molding water content, density, curing temperature, length of curing, time of mixing and size and shape of the specimen are discussed. The remedial measures for shrinkage-cracking and the expected crack patterns are reported.
