The features of flatproofing tires, which helps keep Stillwater's underground vehicles at work, are discussed. Flatproofing is necessary in the mining industry for many of the wheeled vehicles used underground in difficult and remote terrain. Flatproofed tires seem to last longer and also provide the important advantage of added ballast. GCR Tire Centers in Butte, Montana, has more than 150 commercial tyre centers and supplies tires for off-road vehicles used at Stillwater Mining Company's Stillwater and East Boulder mines.
