摘要：

The thermal energy storage (TES) is a proven energy saving technology. However, one of its main limitations is the human factor. Without understanding the theory and the full aspect of operation and maintenance of the TES, the building engineer will fall short in the full implementation of this viable saving tool. The article reports on the TES operational and maintenance practices between 1986 through 1990, the problems faced during that period, and the 1991 modifications that were implemented to improve performance and cut cost.
