摘要
Expensive systems are available to detect impurities in the range of ppb in solids. Solid-state nuclear track detectors supply a simple facility to detect very low concentrations of alpha -radiators in solids. A method is described to estimate activities per unit area of about 2 decays/cm**2d (2. 3 multiplied by 10** minus **5 Bq/cm**2) on the surface of metallic foils. In aluminum foils contaminations of 15 ppb uranium have been detected by this method.
