Improved sensitivity of tunable far-infrared spectroscopy: application to the detection of HBr in the v = 1 state

A set of accurate frequency measurements for pure rotational transitions of H79Br and H81Br in the first excited vibrational state using tunable far-infrared spectroscopy is reported. The 60 measured frequencies range from 1.4 to 4.8 THz involving J″ values as high as 9. The derived spectroscopic parameters, which include nuclear and quadrupole hyperfine constants, reproduce the assigned transitions within the experimental errors.
