摘要
An attempt is made to point out important development lines of fault-tolerant computers, especially for critical real-time applications. Starting with a survey on hardware redundancy concepts used today, the most important requirements for fault-tolerant real-time computer systems are defined and then two large classes for the implementation of fault tolerance are introduced, that of hardware-implemented fault tolerance (HIFT) and that of software-implemented fault tolerance (SIFT).
