A revised UK draft seam welding standard combining BS 2937 and BS 3847 is concerned with seam welding of uncoated mild steel using conventional wheel electrodes, and mash seam welding. Welding procedures and test techniques are given for the processes when welding two thicknesses of uncoated and coated low carbon steel sheets of combined thickness 0. 8-6. 0mm. Electrode dimensions, weld quality and welding conditions are discussed.
